The 80/20 Endurance Virtual Challenge is a monthlong festival of virtual races created to help athletes kickstart their year in fitness. Choose from 20-minute and 80-minute time-trial options in swimming, cycling, and running. The cost of registration is $20.80 (plus a small processing fee), and each registration comes bundled with a free, four-week training plan created by 80/20 Endurance coaches.

Registration opened on New Year’s Day and will remain open through the end of February. The time trials themselves can be done anytime within the month of February. The proceeds will go toward funding 80/20 Endurance Foundation’s Coaches of Color Initiative (COCI), allowing you to support a great cause and at the same time you get fit and compete! Help Us Help Jessica Succeed

Speaking of the Coaches of Color Initiative, New Year’s Day marked the beginning of Jessica Riojas Schnier’s COCI apprenticeship grant. On that morning, Jessica met with COCI codirectors Bertrand Newson and Matt Fitzgerald to plan out her year.

The initiative is off to a great start, but COCI is a resource-intensive program. In order to deliver the best experience possible to Jessica and future apprentices, the program needs adequate funding. If you believe in COCI’s mission to improve diversity in endurance sports, please consider making a one-time or monthly donation to the 80/20 Endurance Foundation. It’s as easy as clicking a few buttons, starting with this one. Thanks!

About Coaches Of Color Initiative

The Coaches of Color Initiative (COCI) exists to provide meaningful support and opportunities for people color aspiring to successful careers as endurance coaches. COCI operates under the auspices of the 80/20 Endurance Foundation, which is affiliated with 80/20 Endurance, the world’s leading purveyor of online training resources for endurance athletes.

About 80/20 Endurance

80/20 Endurance is the creation of Matt Fitzgerald and David Warden. Based on the breakthrough books 80/20 Running and 80/20 Triathlon, runners, triathletes, and other endurance athletes improve the most when they consistently do 80 percent of their training at low intensity and the other 20 percent high intensity. The typical endurance athlete spends only 50-70 percent their total training time at low intensity. The solution? An 80/20 training plan that ensures the optimal intensity balance.
