Filson’s Chilkoot Pass Parka takes its name from the route prospectors took during the 1897 Klondike Gold Rush and is engineered for protection in the coldest conditions.

125 years ago, Clinton C. Filson established his company to outfit prospectors driven to strike gold regardless of environmental obstacles. These miners were soon joined by hunters, anglers, engineers, and explorers. The hardiness of Filson Mackinaw Coats and Wool Field Pants made them unrivaled for keeping comfortable and staying alive in the wilderness.

Filson’s newest parka is the perfect piece for winter expeditions. It has been rigorously tested in the Arctic, and is designed to keep you warm no matter how low the temperature drops. Filled with 850FP goose down, this jacket eliminates cold spots and features Alaskan Guide flannel-lined pockets and neck area.

The Chilkoot Pass Parka is renowned for its ability to stand up to the harshest conditions. It is filled with fluffy goose down, a natural, ultra-lightweight insulation which has been proven to provide warmth in the Arctic and at high altitudes. The double-baffle construction prevents cold spots and the ethically sourced 850FP 90/10 goose down maximizes thermal insulation. The Responsible Down Standard guarantees that the geese providing Filson with this down were not harmed during their process. This down is also processed through bluesign®-approved facilities.

This outer shell is a lightweight fabric made of organic cotton and recycled nylon, allowing maximum breathability so you don’t get too hot when you are exerting yourself. The forearms are double-layer reinforced for added protection. The two-way front zipper allows for ventilation options and is protected by an offset storm guard. The hood will keep you warm and secure when it is fastened around your chin with snap-reinforced Velcro®. Rib-knit cuffs fit snugly around your wrists, providing double coverage when you wear long gloves. The length of the sleeves reaches to the end of your fingertips for optimal coverage.

The layer of under-feathers that lie below the hard exterior plumage of waterfowl works to keep them warm in the cold winter months. Goose down has been a long-time favorite for human use in frigid temperatures for its ability to keep us insulated without being bulky. Filson goose down is sourced with the Responsible Down Standard in mind and the processing of it is done in bluesign®-approved facilities, which means that not only do we care about what we do, but how we do it.
