125 years ago, Clinton C. Filson established his company to outfit prospectors driven to strike gold regardless of environmental obstacles. These miners were soon joined by hunters, anglers, engineers, and explorers. The hardiness of Filson Mackinaw Coats and Wool Field Pants made them unrivaled for keeping comfortable and staying alive in the wilderness.
Filson’s latest limited-edition collection features exclusive 125th anniversary collectibles, unique Filson styles, and small-batch partnerships. These crafted, heirloom-quality pieces are especially limited in quantity and are sure to sell quickly.
Here’s a round-up of my favorites from this year’s collection.
125TH ANNIVERSARY ARCHIVAL MACKINAW WOOL CRUISER
Patented in 1914, the Cruiser’s service record is unequalled. This special-edition patchwork version of Filson’s legendary jacket is a rare collectible crafted with archival Mackinaw Wool plaid patterns that are pieced together by hand. Made in Seattle. Limited quantities available.
MACKINAW WOOL ANORAK
Mackinaw Wool Anorak will keep you warm on ridgetops, open prairies, or the sea. The Anorak’s design traces back to ancient Greenland and has been an outdoors staple ever since. It’s built with the 26-oz. 100% wool that’s protected foresters, sportsmen and tradesmen from wet and cold Pacific Northwest weather for over a century. Filson’s iconic wool insulates even when wet and turns away wind while remaining highly breathable.
125TH ANNIVERSARY WOOL BLANKET
This hand-woven artisan blanket honors the old ways, Filson’s classic collection for 125 years. It’s a fine example of Filson’s dedication to taking the time to craft fine wool blankets by hand—from start to finish—with techniques that honor centuries-old traditions of stewardship and craftsmanship, marking Filson’s 125th anniversary.
ROUGHOUT LEATHER SHORT CRUISER JACKET
This heirloom quality jacket is stitched in the USA. An all-leather variant of Filson’s classic work jacket, the Roughout Leather Short Cruiser Jacket will last a lifetime or three. Rough on the outside and smooth on the inside, the full-grain oil-tanned leather will polish in wear areas, developing a unique patina that tells the story of miles traveled and jobs accomplished.
FILSON X SIDNAW VEST
Crafted in Sidnaw, Michigan, the Filson x Sidnaw Vest is a very limited release that embodies the ideals of craftsmanship, small-scale manufacturing, and the pursuit of a vision. It’s built in Michigan by a husband-and-wife team that’s as passionate about their family and community as they are about crafting highest-quality goods. Sidnaw follows a business model of using top-grade deadstock materials when possible, minimizing their manufacturing footprint.
LINED MACKINAW WOOL PACKER COAT
A Filson original, Wool Packer coats have been protecting men on horseback from cold and snowy weather for the last three decades. The Wool Packer coat is made with our Alaskan Guide flannel lining for extra warmth. Natural sheepskin-shearling shawl collar runs over the shoulders and arms of these heavyweight coats
Built with thick, warm double cloth, Filson’s Beartooth Robe provides the warmth of a blanket with the comfort of a robe. The thick double cloth is brushed on both sides for next-to-skin softness. Built with the same fabric as our Camp Jacket, it features the rugged durability to last for decades.
Handcrafted by an award-winning Seattle metalsmith and a Filson exclusive, this fixed-blade hunting knife is handcrafted in Seattle by master metalsmith and leatherworker Robb Gray of Graycloud Knives. Robb has been building fine working knives for nearly two decades, and his passion for the art shows through. The blade is made from Austrian Bohler-Uddeholm N690 stainless steel, renowned for its corrosion-resistance, edge-holding ability, and ease of sharpening. The clip-point blade features carefully contoured jimping along the spine for increased traction that remains comfortable during extended cutting tasks. The blade’s deep belly allows precision cutting on curved surfaces, such as when dressing out game. The stabilized desert ironwood handle is shaped to fit the hand perfectly and is virtually impervious to chemicals, water, and wear. The knife’s outstanding balance allows it to become an extension of your hand.
HANDMADE PULLOVER SWEATER
Crafted by hand with time-honored techniques, Filson’s limited-edition Handmade Pullover Sweater is hand-knit in British Columbia with the same time-honored techniques in use since the 1800s. The thick 100% wool yarns are knit into a rustic sweater that’s highly breathable and exceptionally warm, even if it gets wet. The fold-over collar can be turned up for added warmth for your neck. Rib-knit cuffs and hem. The back features a trout leaping for a fly and the year knitted in detail.

Goats are one of the earliest animals domesticated by humans. While they’ve been utilized for countless purposes, it’s still oddly uncommon in America to use them as pack animals, but one man, Marc Warnke, hopes to buck the trend. Learn more on the Filson Journal.
