Houdini designs their clothes circular from the start. This means that they use either synthetic fibers that are recycled and recyclable, or natural fibers that are inherently biodegradable. They never blend naturals and synthetics, because then they can be neither recycled nor decomposed.

Houdini relies on nature’s own performance material, merino wool, as the key component of all their base layers. This versatile fabric adapts to your body heat, providing warmth in colder temperatures and helping you cool off in warmer weather. What’s more, it retains its insulating properties even when wet and stays fresh for longer due to its natural antibacterial qualities. Houdini uses only superfine merino wool for ultimate comfort against the skin. Their Desoli base layer series offers three weights: Light, Mid, and Thermal.

When looking for a shell jacket, the first thing to consider is your intended use and situation. Houdini focuses on creating versatile garments, but an alpine ski jacket will have more durability and features compared to a lightweight running jacket.
One major difference between shell jackets is if they have a membrane or not. A membrane makes the jacket fully waterproof, but it also reduces airflow in general. Fully waterproof jackets with a membrane are great for skiing or everyday rain protection when the weather protection is essential. Lighter jackets without a membrane, like a softshell, are ideal for high pulse activities like ski touring, fast hiking or running. All of Houdini’s jackets will deliver both when it comes to weather protection and breathability, but picking a shell jacket is always a balance between the two.
