GMC announces Aug. 11 reveal date for 2023 Canyon
- The 2023 GMC Canyon will debut on Aug. 11 at 11 a.m. ET.
- GMC has provided two teaser images for the new midsize pickup truck in advance of its reveal.
- A new teaser image shows a Canyon AT4X Edition 1 with the GMC’s rugged bodywork and front bumper with a bull bar.
GMC has announced the 2023 Canyon midsize truck will be revealed on Aug. 11 at 11 a.m. ET. In anticipation of the upcoming reveal, GMC is offering a glimpse at the truck’s off-road capability and a preview of the AT4X with Edition 1 package.
Image 1 shows the front end of one of the new Canyon models, and GMC says that this example is the AT4X version with the Edition 1 package. The AT4X trim, first introduced on the Sierra, will be the most off-road-ready model in the new midsize Canyon model. We can see a large front bumper with a bull bar jutting out in front of the grille. The headlights appear to be separated into two parts, with the upper part rectangular and made up of LED daytime running lights and the lower part trapezoidal and containing the main headlights.
The grille on the 2023 Canyon AT4X is blacked out, except for rectangular fog lights in the middle of the front bumper. The tires look to be capable of traversing all kinds of terrain, and the truck should also come in a luxury Denali trim. The vehicle is believed to ride on the same turbocharged four-cylinder powertrain as the Colorado and should also have a standard cab.
The second image provides a behind-the-scenes look at the rigorous development process the Canyon AT4X underwent in Moab, Utah, to help ensure the AT4X’s position as the most advanced and off-road capable Canyon ever.
Moab is one of my favorite adventure sports towns. If you practice an adventure sport, you probably already know Moab as a place where everything is turned up to eleven, from class 5 rapids to legendarily brutal sandstone climbing. There isn’t a better place for rigorous testing and development of a new truck.
GMC previously confirmed the 2023 model will mark the introduction of the AT4X trim to the Canyon lineup, offering premium and advanced off-road capability.
The Canyon AT4X with Edition 1 package will be available for customer reservations at launch. Availability will be announced at a later date.
First introduced on the 2022 GMC Sierra, the AT4X trim is the off-road optimized evolution of GMC’s increasingly popular AT4 sub-brand. New GMC Sierra, the most advanced and luxurious Sierra ever. The lineup includes the New Sierra Denali Ultimate trim, the most advanced and luxurious pickup in its class* and the First Ever Sierra AT4X — the new peak of premium off-road with serious capability and uncompromising refinements.
