Salomon’s 2023-24 Alpine Ski Collection introduces eco-materials, advanced ski technology, and optimized boot fit, enhancing performance and sustainability. This line showcases Salomon’s commitment to innovation, comfort, and environmental responsibility in winter sports.
For over 70 years, Salomon has been revolutionizing the world of skiing. Each year, a team of dedicated engineers and designers work tirelessly to craft products that enhance your mountain adventures. Drawing inspiration from the best methods and techniques, they strive to make their innovations accessible to all who enjoy spending time on the slopes.
For the Winter 23-24 alpine ski season, Salomon created a ski that combines a radical, racing-inspired design with the stand-out style worthy of 2023. Featuring colors from Salomon’s iconic racing flag, these skis subtly pay homage to our Racing history. Salomon’s new Addikt Pro on-piste carving ski uses technology from the company’s racing range to deliver the feeling of carving the perfect turn to more skiers and incorporates Salomon’s iconic racing flag in its top sheet to subtly pay homage to the company’s rich racing history.
This ski is engineered to combine high-performance technologies with the forgiveness qualities needed to make on-piste turns more, well, addictive. Each Addikt ski also features a unique sidewall color design created from a new construction technique that utilizes recycled materials.
Initially focused on skis and bindings, Salomon launched its first boot, the rear-entry SX90, in 1979. In the decade that followed, Salomon dominated headlines with the introduction of the SX90’s successor, the hugely successful SX91. Salomon’s success has always been tightly tied to engineering. Product development, market innovation, and challenging consumer habits all contributed to offer a superior skiing experience.
This legacy still remains part of Salomon’s core identity to this day. Salomon, after successfully implementing BOA® tightening systems on touring and snowboard boots but never on a hard-plastic product such as ski boots. The goal of this new ski boot was relatively simple: create a tightening system that was easy to use, offered more cohesive foot wrapping, and virtually limitless tightening options. From this challenge, the S/Pro SUPRA BOA® idea took off. In 2023, Salomon’s S/Pro SUPRA BOA® aims to challenge traditional boot constructions and introduce skiers to a totally new standard of perfect fit. Pair these boots with the Z12 Gripwalk ski binding, designed to help you carve smooth turns down any slope

SALOMON INTRODUCES ADDIKT PRO ON-PISTE CARVING SKI USING RECYCLED MATERIALS IN THE SKI SIDEWALLS
Featuring a 66mm slalom sidecut, the Addikt Pro is a highly nimble and playful ski that can handle sharp, quick turns or longer, faster arcs with ease. Utilizing Salomon’s renowned Blade technology, which incorporates flexible polymer pads into the Titanium layer, this ski is designed to maintain powerful turns for longer periods of time. To further enhance its performance, the Addikt Pro also features Motion Tail technology exclusively developed by Salomon, increasing tail flexibility by 5%. Coming soon in fall 2023 is the Addikt’s sibling ski, set to hit stores and be more widely available alongside the Addikt Pro.
Waste material created by the ski production process was collected, recycled, and re-used in the sidewall construction of the Addikt range.
Salomon’s winter sports designers and R&D team members also found a way to reduce the Addikt Pro’s environmental impact by using fully recycled ABS sidewalls in the ski construction. To do so, designers took excess ABS chips that were left-over from the ski sidewall production process and put them into a thermal-compression machine.
“In the future, the aesthetic codes will change because materials and resources will change,” says Sylvain Merlin, a designer in Salomon’s winter sports department. “Initialy, this was a project of design exploration, so we did not include the constraints of development, industrialization or technical usage.”
What began as a test in the Salomon ski prototype center has been fully implemented in the factory and into the Addikt range less than two years later.
“The sidewalls of the Addikt Pro and Addikt skis do not come from virgin, oil-based plastics, but from the material waste of our own production,” says Arnaud de Mondenard, Alpine Ski R&D Manager for Salomon. “When we mill any ski sidewall, 40 to 50% of the material consumed goes to the trash bin as chips. For the Addikt and Addikt Pro skis, these chips are collected, re-fused and turned into a new sidewall. Performance characteristics remain un-changed and waste is reduced by almost half.”
There were also improvements made on energy consumption during the Addikt manufacturing process after the team performed a lifecycle analysis on the MTN range of touring skis and implemented changes.
“In the molding process of the Addikt Pro ski, we reduced the energy needed to press the ski by almost half compared to previous S/MAX ski models,” Arnaud explains. “The beauty of this company and this ski R&D team here in Annecy is we are able to test crazy things in our prototype center and then transform them to scale in our factories.”
THE NEW STANDARD FOR PERFECT SKI BOOT FIT WITH THE S/PRO SUPRA BOA®
The S/PRO BOA® stays true to Salomon’s promise of uncompromised performance while improving skiers’ foot-wrapping and comfort levels with a slightly wider fit and a higher level of comfort. A Shell with thinner overlaps, combined with a Sensifit mesh with different densities increase flexibility, promote homogeneous wrapping, ensures more efficient energy transmission and make it easier to step in and out. The addition of an elastic belt on the thermoformable latex-foam liner offers a more homogeneous feeling of proximity to the foot.
“The first prototype was a merger of two sets of expertise into one product – a standard Salomon’s boot with a classic BOA® tightening system. It wasn’t pretty or refined, but it set the tone for what became a true co-creation and pushing our expertise’s boundaries so we could develop the new S/Pro SUPRA BOA®,” explains Paul-Eric Chamay, Salomon Marketing Product Manager, explained.
The placement of the BOA® system, replacing the second lower-shell buckle, allows skiers to fine-tune the boots’ tightness. While traditional buckles “push down” on the foot’s roof, the BOA® system and EXOWRAP ecosystem wrap the foot and securely hold the heel in place for a more cohesive wrapping feeling. The S/PRO Supra BOA® comes in three versions for men: 110 flex (1870g), 120 flex (1880g) and 130 flex (1890g). The women version comes into 95 flex (1570g) or 105 flex (1600g).
